LINDA RENC, Calligraphic Artist
Linda Renc is an artist specializing in hand-written calligraphy, design and lettering arts. She creates original artworks, giclee prints, handmade & hand-lettered books, logo designs and commissioned artworks.
Her artworks often combine lettering with drawing, mixed media and painting. Linda feels that a calligraphic artist is responsible for interpreting mood & meaning behind author's words, whether referencing a poem, prose, song, scripture, or personal writings.
With a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from University of Illinois (1970), Linda gained many of her skills by private study and workshops in the U.S., Canada and Britain. She was fortunate to attend over a dozen international conferences spanning 22 years. She has participated in juried art exhibits, festivals and invitational letter arts exhibitions including Washington DC and Moscow, Russia. As Director of AlphaMark, an international calligraphy exhibition traveling the U.S. and Canada from 1999 through 2001, Linda introduced the art of calligraphy to the North American public in museums, libraries and civic centers.
Linda teaches calligraphy classes at Dunedin Fine Art Center. Along with skill-building and writing techniques with students, she truly enjoys sharing the rich history and different world views of calligraphy.
