About Us

The Painted Fish Gallery opened in 1995 in downtown Dunedin, a small community rich with activities for both residents and visitors. The Pinellas Trail, the county's excellent walk/jog/bicycle route, is right outside our front door. The proximity of St. Joseph Sound and the Gulf of Mexico only a few blocks away inspires artists who often paint outdoors. The spacious gallery is centrally located in Dunedin's shopping district with hotels, B&B's, and a wonderful variety of restaurants in walking distance.

Over a period of nineteen years The Painted Fish Gallery has become a destination for art collectors seeking original and custom artworks for home and business. Artist owners Bill and Linda Renc present a blend of contemporary paintings, prints & calligraphy, including selected guest artists in various media. These include glass, ceramics, jewelry, basketry, wood and fiber arts. Now in its fifth year, our series of gallery concerts provides a chance to see an hear top folk and acoustic musicians in our quiet listening room. Check out our concert calendar below.

This month we feature the wonderful mixed media works of CHRISTINE RENC-CARTER. In her mixed media paintings she combines artist oils with texturing gel medium, ink, graphite drawing, hand-stitched threads, cut paper collage, amber shellac and gold or copper leaf, which give a warm glow to her artworks. "Ghost in the Grain" (pictured - right) has that old time feel of autumn in the cornfields. Christine's newest wall piece is "Vuelo Sagrado" (Sacred Flight). It's a 3-dimensional wood construction with metal embellishments and painted paper. Wings are constructed of individual wood feathers delineated by wood-burning tools. She created this wall piece last spring for "All Decked Out", a skateboard themed exhibit at the Polk Museum of Art in Lakeland sponsored by the Smithsonian. Chris is currently employed by St. Petersburg College as curator of the Gulf Coast Museum art collection, and manages exhibits for the nine campuses including indoor & outdoor sculpture, paintings, ceramics, glass & works on paper. She is a conservation picture-framing consultant at our gallery and has a great collection of original artworks & prints for sale.

In honor of our 5th year hosting incredible indoor acoustic concerts, we have scheduled a couple of big names in the coming season!

Friday, November 14
7:30 p.m.

An exciting, moving, fantastic evening of live music with a folk legend Tracy Grammer. Opening set by “2PM“ Trio.

“One of the finest pure musicians anywhere in folkdom” - Boston Globe

Tracy Grammer has become one of folk music's most beloved performers. Renowned for her springwater-clear alto, perfectly intoned violin, and guitar playing that is by turns percussive and delicate, Grammer is also a masterful storyteller with an ease and charisma on stage -- not to mention a riotous sense of humor -- that hardly belie her modest beginnings as Dave Carter's reclusive accompanist. Stories about the duo's first meeting, Carter's quirks and fancies, or Grammer's own misadventures and missteps are woven thoughtfully into the set list to create a uniquely personal evening that connects audiences to performer, to the Carter/Grammer legacy, and most importantly, to one another. MORE

Pete Hennings, Pete Price & Mike Jergensen -  known as "2PM" - combine pristine vocal harmonies with skillful guitar, mandolin & fiddle. Their original tunes and familiarity with Carter/Grammer songs makes a natural combination as Tracy’s opening folk act.
